Nestled amid the gentle hills of Torano Nuovo, the Emidio Pepe Agriturismo is a natural extension of our family’s historic winery. In the very house where the founder was born and began crafting wine, we now welcome travelers eager to discover the authentic soul of Abruzzo, attuned to the unhurried rhythms of the countryside.
CASA PEPE & BRANELLA
Since 2020 we have vinified our two oldest plots separately, mapping their soils with geologist Brenna Quigley. Despite their proximity, the genetic and geologic differences resulted into markedly different expressions of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, opening a new chapter in our study and deep understanding of our long known grape variety.
DECANTATION
The decantation has a long history at Casa Pepe, since when Emidio decided he wanted to age his wines without ever filtering them. Today, after a long and deep consideration, we have stretched the waiting window before to start decanting, from ten to twenty years.
