Emidio planted his first vineyards with the old method of field grafting. Beneath the vines the blue-grey Calabrian marls reveal a mosaic: compact, calcareous clays fractured by veins of limestone sand and speckled pebbles, interlaced here and there with softer sands. Each subtle change in texture, porosity and pH invites the roots to grow, draw, and translate its own narrative of Montepulciano d\u2019Abruzzo. The result is a striking duality. Wines from one plot show luminous fruit wrapped in fine-grained tannins, while the neighbour speaks darker, broader tones and lingering saline depth.
